Diego Baigros

With extensive experience in landscaping and production in Mallorca. His knowledge in horticulture has allowed him to understand the needs of plants and create sustainable and beautiful environments. Diego is dedicated to selecting aloe vera plants that are best suited to the terrain of the Balearic Islands, ensuring maximum concentration of beneficial bioactives.

Luciano Perri

Luciano is a pediatric surgeon dedicated to his profession and to the well-being of his patients. In his professional practice, in addition to performing surgeries, he treats burns, always making sure that patients receive the best care in a specialized environment. Although his main focus is medicine, a thorough literature review on the benefits of aloe vera sparked his interest in this plant.

He has discovered its wonderful properties for the skin, especially in the recovery after sun exposure, which frequently produces first-degree sunburns. One of his goals is to further study aloe vera to explore its possible applications, especially in the treatment of sunburn.

More and more scientific studies are describing the beneficial components of aloe vera, as well as the different bioactive components of plants depending on the place, care and environment in which they grow. Acemannan, also known as aloverose, is a bioactive polysaccharide found in aloe vera that has multiple proven health benefits. Its biological activities include immunomodulation, anti-cancer properties, antioxidants, promotion of wound healing, bone proliferation, neuroprotection and promotion of intestinal health. According to the International Aloe Science Council (IASC), acemannan has a crucial role in future medical and pharmacological applications.

THE BEGINNINGS OF
BALEALOE

One of the founders of Bale Aloe discovered a passion for aloe vera after living for many years in different regions of Spain, especially in the Canary Islands, where this plant is deeply rooted in local tradition and everyday life. Experiencing different cultures and natural approaches to well-being inspired a deep admiration for aloe vera, its properties, and its close connection with nature. Over time, that inspiration evolved into a project built on respect for the land, authenticity, and natural care.

Over the years he moved to the Balearic Islands, and it was in Mallorca where he met Diego Baigros. In addition to having a common vision, Diego had been using aloe vera for therapeutic purposes since he was a child and was familiar with its many benefits. His experience in the field of plant breeding and genetics was remarkable: he had created a seed through genetic transfer and Masal selection, managing to certify its uniformity and production in the field. This seed was used for the extraction of castor oil for use in biofuels.
The experience provided him with the knowledge and skills necessary to tackle a large-scale agricultural project. This is how, under his guidance, Luciano created his first organic vegetable garden.

A FRIENDSHIP TURNED
INTO A PROJECT

The story of Bale Aloe was born from the friendship between its founders and a shared passion for nature, wellbeing, and Mediterranean living. The acquisition of a farm in the village of Pina, in Algaida, Mallorca, marked the beginning of a project built on enthusiasm, respect for the land, and a common vision.

During the long Mallorcan summer nights, conversations about sustainability, agriculture, and natural living gradually led to the idea of cultivating aloe vera. As the project began to take shape, they discovered that Aloe Vera Barbadensis Miller adapts exceptionally well to the climate and conditions of the Balearic Islands, reinforcing their desire to create an authentic product deeply connected to the island and its natural environment.

Luciano and Diego set out to differentiate themselves in a market saturated by cosmetic products with low ingredient transparency. They decided to focus on improving the bioactive concentrations of the plants through selective cultivation and achieve the highest concentration of aloeverose (acemannan) possible.
Thus Balealoe was born, under a clear vision: to produce aloe vera products, especially of the Barbadensis Miller type, with the beneficial bioactives in high concentrations. In addition, to contribute to the dissemination of aloe vera, sharing knowledge and techniques.

Our name is a reflection of our origin:
“Bale” from Baleares and “aloe” from Aloe Vera.

The natural beauty of the island, with its unique resources and fragile ecosystem, requires a careful and respectful approach. Our products are designed not to harm Posidonia oceanica, a marine algae crucial to the health of the Mediterranean Sea. Posidonia not only maintains water quality, but is also essential for marine biodiversity.
