The Farm

Where our plantation grows, where the magic is born.

BALEALOE FARM

The finca Balealoe is located in the municipality of Algaida, within Mallorca, in an idyllic setting overlooking the majestic Tramuntana Mountains. The unique sunsets and the natural surroundings inspire and renew.

PLANTING

Our aloe vera plantation is 100% ecological, sustainable and environmentally friendly. In addition, Balealoe Farm also has an olive tree plantation and an organic vegetable garden.

THE ENVIRONMENT

On our farm, we have two valuable allies: a group of sheep and a group of ducks. The sheep help us to control the competition of our crop in a natural and balanced way, while the ducks are in charge of maintaining an adequate population of snails that does not harm the plantation. These animals not only care for our crops, but also bring joy and life to our environment and we consider them part of the Balealoe family.

THE CARE

A good care of the plantation is essential to achieve a professional crop for the creation of natural products composed of 100% aloe vera.

Barbadensis Miller:
The “Cure All” of Traditional Medicine.

The plant variety aloe Barbadensis Miller is one of the 400 known species of aloe, traditionally used in various cultures for its healing properties, being commonly called the plant that “heals everything”. Its healing powers are due to the richness of minerals in the soil where it grows, the abundance of nutrients in the water it absorbs and the climate that surrounds it. These conditions lead to a higher concentration of acemanan, a complex polysaccharide that is found in high concentrations in this species and is responsible for many of the benefits that have led it to be known as the “miracle plant”.

HAND HARVESTING
AND PROCESSING

After the sunniest months of the year it is time to enter the plantation and remove the mature leaves from the plant by hand. Each leaf is gently cut at the base and removed from the stem, avoiding damage to the parent plant. The leaves are then removed of soil residue and carefully washed. Once this process is completed, they are sent to the certified processing plant in the shortest possible time to keep their properties intact.

The thorny sides and the bark are separated to extract the mucilaginous center through a pressing process, and then go through different phases of disinfection, stabilization and packaging. The aloe vera juice obtained is sent to the laboratory to produce cosmetic products or drinkable aloe vera juices.
